Inspired from reference photos, another attempt at an ink wash technique

After a drawing by Bill Mauldin, using loose lines and an ink wash

I'm experimenting with different styles, and although I need to tighten up my line work for this kind of a style, this is a possibility. Some of these faces are drawn after drawings by Everett Raymond Kinstler.

This is another style with which I'm experimenting. Of course, I need to work on it if I go with this style, but it's yet another possibility.

Another study of a drawing by Howard Brodie, modified so that the soldier is holding the rifle instead of dropping it as in the original

Using the same pen but without drawing it out with pencil first, I sketched this picture a second time. So here's another sketch of the men (I did this sketch larger than the first and my scanner can't fit the whole image at once, and though I can Photoshop the whole image together I thought it was the men especially that I should sketch in this style to compare with the first).
