I'm an artist writing and drawing a graphic novel that takes place during the Second World War. On this blog I will display the sketches I do in researching and preparing for the book.

this one is really great! 🙂
Wow! Thank you!
Will you be posting any further on this site? You do such great work.
Thank you, for the compliment as well as the reminder; yes, definitely. Including actual comics; realizing I wanted actual “comic education” to make sure I do my story the best way possible, I am now a student at the Center for Cartoon Studies, so I’ll post work from here as well as my further WWII work, and hopefully, in a year, I’ll post work from this graphic novel I’ve been working on. Thank you for your support!
Great to hear – I’ll be watching. I applaud your ambition in furthering your craft!
Excellent post. I’m dealing with manny of these issues as well..
I have been staring at pictures of pack mules during WWII for the past 12-months or more as I am researching information for a book I am writing about my Dad’s time in the CBI, 475th Infantry as part of the 33rd Quarter Master Pack Troop from June 1944 till October of 1945; so imagine my surprise when I came across such well rendered sketches and drawings of the soldiers working with the mules. I would like to incorporate one or two of your sketches with my writing, citing the source of course, if at all possible. I imagine my readers will have the same sense of delight when viewing a sketch, rather than another photo, as a visual clue as to what, exactly, those soldiers were doing over there while working with the mules. I hope that you will consider this possibility to share your sketches as part of my book endeavor. I anticipate your response with enthusiasm.
I’m so glad you enjoy my sketches and your book sounds amazing; please email me at klswann@gmail.com and we’ll talk over details, but I think I will be able to give you permission to use a sketch or two for illustration credit.
Hi, Tara! I know it’s been a number of months, but I haven’t heard from you. If you still would like to use, or already did use, my sketch or sketches, can you email me? I don’t want anyone to use an image without my permission.
